| USC remains ranked in top 10 of two polls |

Good news for USC fans. Despite losing to 25-poing underdog Oregon State in Corvallis on Thursday night, USC stayed in the top 10 of both the Associated Press writers’ poll and the USA Today coaches’ poll, which were released Sunday.
Oklahoma replaced USC as the nation’s No.1-ranked team, with the Trojans falling eight spots, to No. 9, in both indexes. That keeps USC very much alive in the race for this year’s Bowl Championship Series national title.
Alabama, a big winner at Georgia on Saturday, is the new No. 2 in the AP poll while Louisiana State occupies that spot in the coaches’ poll.
More good news if you’re a Trojans fan. Oregon, which had dropped out of the top-25 following a home loss to Boise State, is back in. The Ducks are No. 23 in the AP and No. 20 in the coaches’ poll.
USC hosts Oregon on Saturday.
The AP is no longer part of the BCS, but still crowns its own champion.
The BCS standings are comprised of the Harris and USA Today polls, plus a computer component.
The first Harris poll will be released later this weekend.
The first BCS standings will be released Oct. 19.
